I’d been wanting a Surly for a long time and I finally found this frameset for sale on Craigslist one day.

It was practically brand new – the guy had bought it – rode it a few times and decided he wanted a different size, so I jumped on it.

I had the frame for almost 2 years I think before I finally finished assembling all the parts I wanted to assemble it, though since then, I’ve tinkered with it to no end.

It has be come my defacto commuter and I’ve set it up fully geared, single-speed and fixed (at one point double-fixed) over the years. I’ve run it with racks, fenders, studded tires, upright and drop bars, the whole nine. It’s seen snow, rain, slush, sub-zero temps and never batted an eye.

All the exact reasons I wanted a Surly for.
